3 Infused Water Recipes to Kick Off Summer

Summer is right around the corner, and with all the summer fun, dehydration is a concern. From pool parties to theme parks, there's a lot happening, and it's easy for us, and our little ones to forget to drink water. Here in the tri-state, the humidity is brutal, and I make sure to carry infused water with me daily. Water is our second oxygen; it makes up 65-75% of our body weight, maintains the systems that flushes waste and toxins, as well as lubricate and hydrate the skin plus a ton of additional properties. During these warmer months, I try to avoid drinks with a lot of sugar and opt for making my own infused water—it's easy and tastes better. Below I'm sharing with you three of my favorite infused water recipes to help kick off your summer.

Cucumber Lime

16 oz Water Bottle
1/4 cucumber (seedless preferred)
3 slices of lime

Cucumbers are made up of mostly water; they're a good source of vitamin B, rich in potassium and magnesium, and aid in the fight to help lower blood pressure. Combined with the tangy sweetness of the lime—limes have a lot of vitamin C; one lime can provide almost 48% of your daily vitamin C—this infused water recipe is refreshing and delicious.

Blueberry Strawberry Lemon

16 oz Water Bottle
Handful of blueberries
3 Strawberries (sliced)
3 slices of lemon

My personal favorite is this blueberry, strawberry, lemon combination. It's full of superfruits and has high levels of antioxidants. Strawberries have proven to improve heart health, help control blood sugar and boost cancer prevention. While blueberries are the highest potent sources of antioxidants on the market, the acids in lemon have shown to slow the digestion processes, which helps you with better absorption of the nutrients passing through your system. If you're looking for a fruit juice; this is the one to make.

Lemon Mint

16 oz Water Bottle
3 slices of lemon
6 Fresh Mint leaves

Lemon mint water can be used as a detox, and while it only contains two ingredients—lemon and mint—it's sweet and tangy and provides a lot of vitamin C. Lemons contain flavonoids, which are plant pigments; they're known to have powerful antioxidant properties that help protect your cells from damage. Combine this with the coolness of the mint, and you have a perfectly paired drink that will also slow down your cravings and strengthen your immune system.

Infused waters are easy and fun to make. They can be your go-to when you're craving something sweet or wanting something more than plain water. I'd love to try new flavors; let me know in the comments below what your favorite recipe is!
