5-Daily Mantras to Combat Stress

I can't even begin to tell you how stressed I've been over the past few weeks. Trying to find the balance between getting back to work, growing the site and my career, and maintaining my social life and relationship hasn't been easy, but with daily mantras, weekly affirmations, and tons of positive energy, I've kept it in check—so far.

Here’s the thing, none of us are immune to stress, and most of the time, when we're in a stressful situation, it feels as though there's no way out. I try to give myself time to decompress, but it's easy to feel stressed when the daily rat race of waking up early, getting everyone—including yourself off to work (with or without coffee), and race through the day to get home and do it all over again tomorrow; it's exhausting and stressful, but it doesn't have to be. Between creating balance and practicing daily mantras, your days can be stress-free, and dare I say, enjoyable; here are five mantras to get you through your stressful days.

I. I have all I need in this moment

This one is great if you're feeling overwhelmed. Take a moment to assess the situation and ask yourself, "what is needed of me right now;" understand what takes priority and focus on that. Many of us are overwhelmed and stressed over our to-do list because we are asking ourselves to take on too much at once. Give yourself three tasks to complete daily and stay focused on that; you'll see your productivity increase and your stress levels decrease.

II. I surrender to the process

Letting go of anything is naturally hard, but sometimes you have to let go of the one thing you continue to hold on too. When it comes to the process—for anything, you have to give into it; you have to respect the process for it to work. So, when you think of surrendering, understand that it's a form of acceptance and will allow you the ability to be present with whatever is; separating yourself from the temporary circumstance (the process) and creating a space for what will be (the outcome).

III. I release my pain and forgive the past. I am free to love

My favorite of the mantras. We all have a story, and many of us hold on to the pain that's associated with our story because it provides comfort. In order to love yourself or anyone else, you have to release that pain associated with your past and give yourself time to forgive and love; this mantra is challenging and will take daily practice, and will be [more] effective with other daily self-love practices. 

 
 

IV. I choose the present and fill this moment with fun, joy, and light.

Positivity isn't only a state of mind, it's a lifestyle, and takes daily moment-by-moment practice. When you're in a stressful situation, chances are you're thinking of the outcome (future) instead of surrendering to the process and being in the moment. When you feel stressed with a to-do list, an outcome or fear of a particular situation; recite this mantra and give yourself permission to be in the moment to feel.

V. Gratitude awakens the good in my life

Gratitude was included in the 5-Morning Mantras of Success and should be practiced daily regardless of which mantras you're using. As mentioned previously, showing and giving gratitude can improve your life, and it's as simple as writing down five things you're thankful for. Whether big or small, give thanks for what happening in your life right now and watch how your stress levels change.
