Chakras Connected to Fashion

As I grow spiritually, I push myself to understand Universal energy and how we're connected to spirit. One thing I've discovered throughout this growth process is Chakras and its connection to both the spirit body and fashion. Chakras are the basic energy centers in the body; we have seven that start at the base of the spine and rise to the crown of our head. They can be the doorway and connection to your mental and physical health. And while some of you may be unaware of Chakras and what's associated with each, many are aligning their Chakras with their mood based on how they dress. Color is a given in fashion, and there are times when you dress based on your mood—feeling down, you wear black; feeling happy, you wear yellow or another bright color, but did you know that color can affect your mood? Let's take a deeper look at the seven Chakras, the colors associated with each, and they're connected to personal style and fashion.

7. Crown — The Crown Chakra is the highest Chakra and represents our ability to fully connect spiritually. Located at the top center of the head and midline above the ears, brain, nervous system, and pineal gland; this Chakra creates a balanced feeling of being one with the Universe, to have an open-mind, and to be thoughtful and understanding. The color Violet is associated with this Chakra and is often worn by royalty; because of this, Violet is perceived as luxurious and sophisticated. Also known to boost energy and intuition, the color combined with the crown Chakra can aid in making a difficult decision and connecting with your inner most thoughts. Wear violet to promote wisdom, trust, and to let go of any destructive emotions.

What to wear:

6. Third-Eye — The Third-eye Chakra, located between the eyebrows, is associated with self-knowledge, wisdom, intellect, and visualization. This Chakra is known to give you the ability to focus and see the bigger picture while expanding your imagination. The third-eye is associated with Indigo and stimulates the right brain, so creatives seek this color to excite their creative skills and give them focus and concentrate during times of confusion and reflection. If you're wearing indigo (a combination of deep blue and violet), focus on connecting the attributes of both the crown and throat Chakra.

What to wear:

5. Throat — Blue is one of the most common colors known and worn, but when it comes to the Throat Chakra, it represents our ability to communicate and express our feelings and the truth. Located on the level of the throat, this Chakra allows you to take responsibility for your actions, as well as communicate truthfulness and self-knowledge. The color blue takes on promoting both physical and mental relaxation; it's a color that seeks peace and tranquility.  As associated with the throat, this Chakra aids in confessions and communicating your thoughts through verbal expression. Blue has a calming feeling, and since it's so commonly used it symbolizes loyalty and tradition because of that, it's recommended to wear blue to job interviews and other fields of authority. Also, wear blue to exude power or to be respected.

What to wear:

4. Heart — What I believe to be the most important chakra, is the Heart Chakra. This Chakra connects with our ability to love and to find joy and inner peace. Hovering around our heart and circulatory system; this Chakra deals with forgiveness and unconditional love, as well as issues with the soul. Connect with this Chakra to heal the inner soul and empower your emotional well-being. Green is the color associated with this Chakra, and it's the color of balance and growth and the great balancer of both the heart and your emotions. It gives many a calming and relaxing feeling, and when worn it can give perspective. You should wear green if you have the need to feel grounded and calm.

What to wear:

3. Naval — As we head down the body, we hit the next chakra, the Naval Chakra. This Chakra connects with our ability to be confident and in control of our lives while focusing on self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem. Located in the upper part of our abdomen, connecting with this Chakra helps with the sense of belonging and mental understanding of emotions and personal power. Yellow is the color of the naval Chakra; yellow inspires original thought and inquisitiveness, and the color of new ideas, helping us to find new ways of doing things. It can awaken greater confidence and optimism especially since it's the most highly visible of all colors. When you wear yellow, you feel happier, and that's because it maintains your mental alertness.

What to wear:

2. Sacral — Similar to the Naval Chakra, the Sacral Chakra connects our ability to connect, but to others and new experiences. Located right under the naval in our lower abdomen; this chakra controls the sense of abundance, well-being, pleasure, and sexuality. As we explore and connect with this Chakra, we're able to identify ourselves emotionally through pleasure and self-gratification, as well as personal relationships. Orange is the color of this chakra, and orange represents warmth and happiness that combines the physical energy and stimulation of red with the cheerfulness of yellow. Though it is one of the most underused colors, you should wear orange if you want to have fun or heal emotions. Also, wearing orange can represent sensuality and ambition.

What to wear:

1. Root — The last of the Chakras is the Root Chakra. This one rounds out all the Chakras by representing our foundation and the sense of feeling grounded. Located at the base of the spine, the Root Chakra deals with our physical identity, ambition, and self-sufficiency while giving us stillness and strength. The color red is linked to this Chakra and is the color of our physical life force stimulating deeper and more intimate passions in us, such as love and sex; hence Valentine's Day. Red is a color of strength and when worn can show assertiveness and boost energy, as well as exude your sexuality.

What to wear:

Now that we've broken down what each Chakra means and how what you wear can change how you feel, will you think twice the next time you put on one of these colors? Use color, and your style to express how you feel; hey, it's the first thing people will notice! Continue to Live Your Life in Style and always Be Inspired.
