How to Find Balance in Your Life: 6 Steps
Have you ever sat and said to yourself, " I just don't have time to do this" or "I wish I could go, but I don't have time"? At some point all of us have, and usually, it's because we haven't created enough balance in our lives. Maintaining a healthy life balance is not only essential for your happiness, but your overall well-being. It allows you the ability to focus your attention and energy on achieving your goals by taking action in a meaningful way.

A balanced life will look different for each of us - myself included, but there are steps we can take to change those unstable areas and get some control and balance in our lives. Change is scary for most and to create balance, you will have to change a few things, but not all at once. Small adjustments over time to help you get a balanced routine will have you on track for a balanced positive life.
Stay on Schedule
Creating and staying on schedule sounds easy, but I've found it to be one of the hardest things to do. I created an agenda before but rarely stuck to it until I found myself out of balance. Now, I live by my schedule and plan everything from the time I'm going to wake up to what type of content I'm going to focus on for the week. Keeping a schedule will keep you focused and on track, and will allow you to balance your time and energy towards those things that are important to you.
I've said it many times here on the site and my social media, but it's important to disconnect. We live in such a social media driven society that we feel we need to be connected all the time because of FOMO (fear of missing out), but it's okay to disconnect. Free your mind from the clutter of social media and your computer screen and have real interactions, WITHOUT your device. Give yourself, at least, one day to be free and disconnect, completely.
If you're a part of my e-mail list, you know I created an entire e-mail about having a positive tribe and avoiding "still" people. If you have people around you who are still complaining, still broke, still insecure; get rid of em! This is something that will be difficult, but it must be done; nothing will throw off your balance and focus like a negative person and negative energy.
When you're overwhelmed and overworked, alone time is something that's unheard of, but it's crucial. Take time for yourself, it's okay! Give yourself time to pray, meditate, write, or workout. I've made it a point to wake up early every day (6:30 am) so I can have time to myself with no distractions. Having alone time with no distractions can lower stress and increase productivity and happiness.
Just Say NO
I mentioned earlier that if it's not on my schedule, I don't do it. While that's the case in most instances, I leave free time to do things I enjoy with my friends and family, but if I'm feeling overwhelmed or need a break, I say no. Also, if something doesn't add some type of value to your life, opt out!
As we get older, we forget about having fun. It's ok to laugh, joke, and play; get back to doing what you enjoyed as a kid. Nothing is better than a good laugh, and with the weight of adulthood, sometimes childlike behavior is the balance we need.
