The weather is starting to change, and Fall is fast approaching. Though I enjoy Summer, I hate the heat and humidity here in the tri-state area, so I am looking forward to some cooler temperatures. As an adult, we miss out on having the entire Summer off because we have to WORK! I MISS BEING A KID! However, this Summer was one of the best I've had in a very long time.
It kicked off with me leaving Brooklyn and moving back to my home state of Jersey. Initially moving to Brooklyn a little over five years ago to follow a dream, I thought I'd never leave, and I'd be in New York for good. That changed as I grew and realized while I enjoy working in the city, living there was a different story. When I moved to NY, I was 25 years old and always on the social scene hopping from happy hour to event and back again. Energy started to shift, and so did my life; the things I once enjoyed I began to hate and knew it was time for me to get back to my core, and that was family. So here I am today back in Jersey, and I am the happiest I've been in awhile! (Read more about my move here)
After moving a vacation was much needed, and I had the opportunity to visit the Dominican Republic for the first time. I was really excited about this vacation; we went with a group of friends to attend another friend's wedding. I haven't had a vacation in about two years, so I was looking forward to getting away and enjoying some down time. Unfortunately on the morning of day two I woke up with travelers virus and had to be rushed to the on-site doctor. Thankfully I was able to get medication and by the next afternoon I was able to enjoy the rest of my trip. We stayed at the Now Larimar Resort which has beautiful grounds; the food is average, and the beach was unusable due to the excessive amount of seaweed. All in all we had a lot of fun, and already planning our next trip!
The remainder of the Summer was rather low key. Unlike last year, I was able to get a few beach days in, and I finally have a love and appreciation for relaxing on the beach. I am really happy for the fun memories I created this past summer, and though I will miss BBQ food, I am looking forward to the holidays and Fall fashion!
