Spring 2016 Trend Guide: The Accessories
Last up in this season's trend guide is all about the accessories. Probably my favorite during the Spring and Summer months because it's like layering without adding the extra layers. Accessories are the finishing touches to your look, and these are the styles you should have your eye on.
Adjustable Baseball Cap, $59.00 |Gents|
These are not your father's baseball caps or even your favorite athletic team cap; it's about premium materials in wool and leather - think Elevated Athleisure. Fedoras and wide-brim hats are fastly coming to an end (though I'll still rock them because it's a staple in menswear - for me) and are being replaced with these updated cap styles.
How to wear it: The emphasis here is on fabric; focus on elevated fabrics and avoid prints or branded logos. You can easily rock them with just about anything; pair a cap with a suit and sneaker for an athleisure look or with joggers and a t-shirt for a casual weekend.

Pebbled Leather Backpack, $335.00 |Uri Minkoff|
Like baseball caps, backpacks should focus on premium materials. The backpack trend is carrying over from past seasons, but this season they've become much more polished. It's about quality leather and hardware, not those low-slung versions from high school.
How to wear it: There is no right or wrong way to wear this, just avoid the classic school backpack style and choose a style that's much more grown-up.

Gryphon Sandals, $152.49 |Dr. Martens|
The biggest trend in footwear right now is sandals. Once passé to wear, we are now coming around to accepting men showing their feet. An alternative to the classic loafer or sneaker, sandals are the new wave in menswear.
How to wear it: First things first, sandals and flip-flops are not the same. Save the flip-flops for poolside and pair your sandals with anything from a casual summer suit to jeans and a light-weight sweater.
