The Power of Connection

In recent months, I have come to understand what it really means to be connected. Aside from personal connections with others, a connection with a power greater than oneself has proven to be the most healing. Growing up in the church, I've always had an understanding and knowledge of God and an appreciation for spirituality. As I grew older, my days of attending church dwindled and I can honestly say the slight connection I was building came to a halt; not because I no longer desired it - it was a connection I felt I did not need. Little did I know the foundation that was instilled in me would be the very thing that was missing from my life.

Battling the struggles that we all face as we grow; personal worth, faith, timing, etc. I knew it was time for me to tap into something outside of myself to not only grow as a person, but to fulfill something that was bigger than me. We are all here for a purpose and it is our responsibility to discover that purpose, and I believe I am on that path to fulfilling and living my life's purpose. Before I can do that or even take the steps to do it, I had to heal from the story that I was so attached to. We all have something we attach to; that one thing that holds us back from moving forward and living to our highest potential.

With that said, I believe it is important for each individual person to have [their own] understanding of spirituality and religion; while the two may go hand-in-hand, they are different. For me, spirituality has been that connection to a greater universal power that has allowed me to tap into myself. While religion has given me a set of rituals along with a "code of ethics" or rules to follow. In my discovery of self, I have found that rituals are important for me to improve my connection. Some of my rituals include prayer, meditation, daily affirmations, and many others.

Over time, I have come to truly realize we are all connected. We all want the same thing; happiness, but what we fail to realize & believe is that growth has less to do with age and everything to do with the development of ourselves both mentally and spiritually. We [individually] must get out of our own way, let go of fear, increase our faith and wealth, and live an authentic life. As I continue on daily, my goal is to strengthen my connection with the power that is greater than myself, as well as, my personal connections and relationships.
